Regina Sayres of North Bergen died on Monday, August 27, 2012 after a brief illness.  She was 104 years old.  Born in New Jersey she lived in Jersey City before moving to North Bergen in 1973.  She received a B.A. and M.A. in elementary education from Hunter College, N.Y. and had been an elementary school teacher in New York City for many years.  She retired from teaching 39 years ago.  She was a Past President of Hadassah of North Bergen and had been a volunteer reader with Reading For The Blind.  She was also featured in a YouTube video when she turned 100 years of age and had been an active member of the United Federation of Teachers.  She was the wife of the late Carl Sayres and the mother of the late Alden Sayres.  She is survived by her daughter-in-law Barbara Sayres, two grandsons, Carl and David Sayres and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin, Alex, Matthew and Adam.
