Janette Zimmerman (nee Reifer) passed away on Friday, October 12, 2012 after a brief illness. She was 79.  Born in Queens, New York she lived in Newark, Hillside and Maplewood before moving to Springfield in 1973.  She had worked for over 10 years as the cashier at The Chicken Nest in South Orange and was a past president and life member of the Maplewood-South Orange Chapter of B’nai B’rith Women (now called Jewish Women International).  She was also a member of Congregation Oheb Shalom, South Orange.  She is survived by two daughters, Caren Manders and Robin Zimmerman, both of Springfield, two sisters, Esther Cheriff of Boynton Beach, Florida and Leona Sanfilippo of Chapel Hill North Carolina and 2 granddaughters, Courtney and Michelle Manders.
