Eleanor H. Brooks passed away on Tuesday, July 16, 2013 after a brief illness.  She was 70 years of age.  Born in Jersey City, N.J. she lived her entire life in New Jersey moving to Manville, Somerville, Clark, and Springfield for 35 years before moving to Martinsville, 7 years ago.  She earned a B.A. in history and economics from the Simmons College for Women in Boston, MA. and was a high school teacher and former social studies department head at the Golda Och Academy, West Orange, N.J. where she worked for over 20 years.  She was still active at the time of her death. She is survived by her husband Louis Brooks of Martinsville, her children David (Aimee) of Montclair, N.J. and Jeffrey (Nicole) Brooks of Ft. Mill, South Carolina,  and Lindsey (Michael) Sag of Montclair, N.J.  She is also survived by her brother Dr. Edward C. Halperin and her sister Harriet Naggar of Springfield as well as her mother Ruth J. Halperin of Somerville, N.J. and 7 grandchildren; Rowan, Elias, Hailey, Collin, Jordan, Malina, and Noah.

Shiva:  Will be observed at the Family Residence, 45 Blazier Road, Martinsville, N.J. 08836 Thursday, following the funeral through Monday morning.  Please note that the family will not be observing Shiva during Shabbat (Friday evening through Saturday night).
