Roslyn Muriel Apotheka passed away peacefully in her home in Summit, NJ on Thursday, November 2, 2017. She was 86. Born in Brooklyn, NY, she lived in Island Park, NY and Rockaway, NJ before moving to Summit, NJ two years ago. She worked for Manfred H. Meyer Insurance for over 35 years. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society, an avid reader, theater lover, crossword puzzle solver, traveler, and community volunteer. She loved spending time on the beach and in the water with family and friends, from Coney Island and Island Park to Aruba and Bermuda. She would never pass up a chance to drink a beach-side piña colada, dance in the aisle at a Tom Jones concert, or watch The Little Drummer Boy. She is survived by her daughter, Phyllis (Bernard) Sussman of Far Hills, NJ and two grandchildren, Alyssa Sussman (Sam Dudek) and Aaron Sussman (fiancée Stacey Kennard). She was predeceased by her husband of over 30 years, Harold Apotheka, and her sister, Florence Levin. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations in her memory be made to Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center (https://giving.mskcc.org), MSKCC Office of Development, 633 3rd Ave., 28th Fl., New York, NY 10017.
