Elaine Cohen passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 19, 2017.  She was 93.  Born in Newark she lived in Brooklyn and Great Neck, N.Y., before moving to Boynton Beach Florida 17 years ago. She had attended the University of Illinois and was the co-owner with her late husband, Herman Freundlich, of Behrens Pharmacy in Brooklyn, N.Y., the first true apothecary pharmacy in Brooklyn.  After they sold the business she kept busy working as a “temporary” worker through the “Temporarily Yours” agency of New York City for 15 years.  She retired in 2002.  She was the Past President of the PTA in Brooklyn, NY and was active with the Sidney Green Foundation (a charitable foundation working in the psychiatric area).  She also volunteered at the Down State Medical Center in Brooklyn, NY.  She is survived by her son, Dr. William (Linda) Freundlich of Springfield, N.J., 3 grandchildren, H.Ryan, Chad and Chase as well as one great-grandchild, Tyler, along with a niece Pam Gardiner of Miami Beach, FL., and two nephews, Joey (Vicky) Gardiner of Clark, N.J., and Michael Gardiner of Boynton Beach, FL.  She is predeceased by her first husband Herman Freundlich, to whom she was married for 29 years, her second husband, Jerry Cohen, to whom she was married for 28 years, and two sisters, Adele Gardiner and Harriet Edelman.
