Sholom Sorkin passed away peacefully on Sunday, July 24, 2016.  He was 92.  Born in Daugavpils, Latvia he is a Holocaust survivor, having lived in the Riga Ghetto and several concentration camps before being imprisoned in the Buchenwald Concentration Camp.  He managed to survive Buchenwald and made his way to the United State first settling in Fanwood, N.J.. For the last five years he has lived in Cranford, N.J..  While in Latvia he had been a Furrier and was skilled in dealing with all manner of furs.  He was an active member of Congregation Beth Israel of Scotch Plains.  He is survived by his beloved wife Sara (nee Aberbukh), and two grandchildren.  He is predeceased by his only daughter, Leah Sorkin.
