Max Scheiner passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2016 after a lengthy illness.  He was 91.  Born in Newark, NJ he lived in Union, NJ before moving to Cranford, NJ almost 60 years ago. He served in WWII in the U.S. Army Air Corps as an airplane engine mechanic in the pacific theater receiving the American Service Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Good Conduct Medal and the World War II Victory Medal. After the war he went to college and attained a B.A. and an M.A. in accounting from Rutgers University’s Newark College of Arts and Sciences, and was, at the time of his death, taking courses in computer science at Union College.  He had, for over 40 years, worked for Magla Products, a manufacturing company located originally in Newark, then in Irvington and most recently in Chatham, NJ as an inside sales representative, retiring in 1994.  He was a member of B’nai B’rith #2093 of Union County, Temple Beth El Mekor Chayim of Cranford and its Men’s Club, and The Poker Boys.  He is survived by his beloved wife Harriet (nee Jacobs) of Cranford, NJ, a daughter, Susan (Andrew) Harrow of Apollo Beach, FL., a son Steven (Sylvia) Scheiner of Union, NJ, and 8 grandchildren, Joshua (Toby), Lisa (Marc), Adrienne, Jordyn, Arianna and Aaron.  In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations in Max's memory be made to the Center For Hope Hospice, 1900 Raritan Road, Scotch Plains, N.J., Temple Beth El Mekor Chayim, 338 Walnut Ave., Cranford, N.J. 07016, or Hadassah's Tower Fund, P.O.
