Bernice Kurman Winarsky passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 20, 2016.  She was 85.  Born in Newark, N.J. she moved to Springfield in 1968 and then West Orange in 2011.   She was active in and a life member of Hadassah of Springfield and was a “Woman Of The Year” for Hadassah in 2008. She was a co-founder of the Senior Set and a Past President of the Sisterhood, both of Congregation Israel of Springfield.  She is survived by her daughter, Thea Ann Winarsky (Ethan Ross) of Manhattan, N.Y., a son, Mark (Karen) Winarsky of Atlanta, GA., 4 grandchildren, Eli Aron Ross and Leila Olivia Ross and Isabelle Lily Winarsky and Sara Alexis Winarsky.  She is also survived by many nieces and nephews including Ellyn Berkowitz Silverman, who was like a daughter to her. She is predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Lou Winarsky.
