Dr. Harold Stromeyer passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness at his home in Verona, N.J. surrounded by his loving family on Wednesday, October 28, 2015.  He was 85.  Funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015 at the Temple of Israel Mausoleum on the grounds of the Beth Israel Cemetery, U.S. Route One, Woodbridge, N.J.. Born in Newark, N.J. he lived in Hillside, Springfield, and Hawthorne, N.J., and Palm Springs, CA. before moving to Verona, N.J. in 2010.  He also maintained a residence in Lake George, N.Y..  He held a B.S. (summa cum laude) from Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J. where he was also valedictorian of his class, and an M.D. degree (also summa cum laude) from Stanford University, Stanford, CA..  He served in the U.S. Navy and attained the rank of Lieutenant.  He maintained a private medical practice as a dermatologist for over 50 years, first in Paterson, N.J. and later in Hawthorne, N.J..  He also served the Paterson Department of Health, Barnert Hospital in Paterson, N.J., Daughters of Miriam in Clifton, N.J. and was Head of Dermatology at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Paterson, N.J.  A giving, loving, compassionate man and doctor he was known for his straight forward way. Harold’s patients adored him.  He retired 15 years ago. He was also a member of Preakness Hills Country Club, Wayne, N.J., Canyon Estates Country Club, Palm Springs, CA., Phi Rho Sigma (Alpha Theta Chapter), and the Order of the Cross & Crescent of Seton Hall University, South Orange, N.J.  Predeceased by his beloved wife of 52 years, Rachelle Bernice “Buni” Stromeyer (nee Senoff) he is survived by his loving children, son, Irwin Stromeyer of Verona, N.J., his two daughters, Joanne (Brian) Slobodien of Irvine, CA., and Beth (Steven) Parr of Franklin Lakes, N.J. his dear brother, Norman Stromeyer of Freehold, N.J., as well as his eight adored grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.  He will be missed by all who knew him.  In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Daughters of Miriam Nursing Home.
