Cesia Braunhut (nee Betteil) passed away peacefully on Friday, August 28, 2015 at home in the Bronx, N.Y..  She was 90.  Born in Cracow, Poland, she survived the Auschwitz death camp from 1941-1945.  She emigrated to the United States, after WWII first settling in Brooklyn, N.Y..  She lived in Boro Park, Washington Heights, Riverdale and Rivervale, New York before moving to Livingston, New Jersey in 2013.  In 2014 she moved to the Bronx, N.Y..  A graduate of Ballet school in Cracow, Poland, she was the daughter of Morris and Rose Betteil, owners of a successful rubber factory in Poland before the war.  Once settled in America, she became the co-owner, with her late husband, Karol Braunhut, of the Ceil Braunhut Jewelry Company in New York City.  She retired in 1975.  She was a member of the New Cracow Friendship Society, and a past member of the Conservative Synagogue of Riverdale in Riverdale, New York.  She is survived by her daughters Rose Dorothy Corn of Springfield, N.J., and Helene Joyce Crescenzi of Boiling Springs, PA., a brother, Jack Betteil of Bayside, N.Y., five grandchildren, Michelle Birnbaum, Kenneth Corn, Lauren Sutherland, Stacey Mastromonico and Jordan Crescenzi as well as 9 great grandchildren.
