Alan J. Krebs passed away on Monday, April 21, 2014 after a lengthy illness.  He was 77.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, 2014 at Ross’ Shalom Chapels, 415 Morris Ave., Springfield, N.J. with interment following at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery, Iselin, N.J..  Born in Yonkers, N.Y. he grew-up in Staten Island and then moved to Rahway in 1963. He had served as a U.S. Navy Reserve Medical Corpsman.  He earned a bachelors degree from Columbia University, N.Y., N.Y.  and had worked for ABC Sports on its production staff for several years.  He was an entrepreneur who opened several businesses including the Bagel Chateau in Edison, N.J. with his beloved wife, Fran, and where they worked for many years.  Later in life he became a realtor working for ERA Realty in Clark, N.J..  He retired five years ago.  He was the past President of  B’nai B’rith in Clark, N.J.. He along with his wife,  Fran, created, produced and directed the Yom HaShoah program at several synagogues throughout the greater Union County area.  The program was then adopted and expanded by Kean University, Union, N.J. where it has been in use for many years.  They also created and produced the Yom HaShoah program for the City of Linden, N.J..  Mr. Krebs is survived by his wife, Fran (nee Kupperberg) 2 sons, Howard and Michael (Camille) Krebs, a daughter, the late Pam Krebs, and 3 grandchildren, Zachary, Samuel and Lillian.  Donations in his memory may be made to the Michael J.
