Samuel Gulkin passed away early Wednesday morning, February 5, 2014 after a lengthy struggle with multiple myeloma. He was 78.  Born in Newark he lived in Springfield, N.J. for the past 44 years. He earned a BA from Fairleigh Dickenson University after attending the University of Michigan. While still in high school he begain serving in the National Guard and continued to do so for 8 years and then went on to serve the Guard for 2 years as a civilian employee. He was the administrator for Universal Laboratories in Brooklyn, N.Y. for 20 years, retiring 8 years ago. He also was a part owner of a pharmaceutical manufacturing company in Massachusetts for several years. Previously he was in pharmaceutical sales with both Johnson and Johnson and McNeil Labs. While in college he joined the AEPi Fraternity and remained an active alumni brother supporting their philanthropic endeavors. He is predeceased by his beloved wife Anita Gulkin (nee Kurman) and survived by his devoted sister, Mona (Daniel) Talarsky and many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Shiva: will be observed at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Talarsky, 88 Warwick Circle, Springfield, N.J. 07081 Thursday through Sunday evening excluding the Sabbath.
