Phyllis Rubin (nee Beckerman) passed away on Friday, August 28, 2015 at her home in Mequon, WI.  She was 90.  Born in the Bronx, New York she lived in Queens, Nassau, Ossening, and Commack, New York before moving to Mequon, WI. last year.  She held a B.A. from Hunter College, New York, N.Y., and received her Masters degree in Library Science from Adelphi, University, Garden City, New York and a second Masters degree from C.W. Post College, (now Long Island University-Post) Brookville, N.Y., in social work.  She began and ended her career as a social worker, last working for a senior center in Queens, New York, retiring over 25 years ago.  She had also been a Hebrew Day School and public school librarian, and an elementary school teacher as well.  She was predeceased by her late husband Julius Rubin and is survived by her beloved daughters Ellen (Ron) Rothenberg of Bedford Corners, N.Y., Carol Rubin (Pete) of Huntington, N.Y. and Laura (Charles) Waisbren of Milwaukee, WI. as well a sister, Joan Finkelstein, of Springfield, N.J. and six grandchildren, Nikki, Harry, Alex, Julie, Sam and Amy.  She was a Past Board member of Temple Judea of Manhasset, New York and was an avid Mah Jongg and Canasta player.  She loved reading, especially books by Jane Austin, and listening to music. She was also a frequent visitor to the Berkshires and particularly to the Tanglewood Music Center in Lenox and Stockbridge, Massachusetts.
